Exploring the Senses: Ice

Never miss an opportunity to explore the senses!

Today’s random ice storm presented quite a few challenges for the school, but amongst the chaos, came wonderful, spontaneous learning opportunities for the students. We heard thunder first, then slight rain, and then all of a sudden…HAIL! Some of the teachers were brave enough to venture outside and gather a bucket full of ice to share with their students. We discussed how hail is formed, felt its texture, how cold it was, learned how fast it melted, and explored different shapes and manipulations of the ice when compressed in your hands. Our toddlers enjoyed the sound of the ice as it “crunched” in between their fingers. The crunchy, squishy, cold sensation was very enjoyable! (A few suggested we even make snow cones!)

How neat it is to hold frozen rain in our hands!

A Complaint-Free World: Purple Bracelet Challenge

complaint free world challenge

Day 1 of Teacher In-Service. Our teachers participated in the “Complaint-Free World” challenge. Simply put, the purple bracelets serve as a reminder to not complain. Every time you complain, you switch the bracelet from one wrist to the other, ultimately helping you become more aware of when you’re complaining. The results, a complaint-free workplace! Not only does this challenge help you to become more aware of when you complain, it helps you to communicate in a more productive and positive way, improving your relationships with coworkers, family and friends, and ultimately helps you to live a healthier lifestyle. We encourage everyone to join us in this challenge!

We envision a positive shift in our world’s consciousness.

We see a day when people focus on and speak about what they desire things to be rather than complaining about how things are.

We will  provide Complaint Free purple bracelets and inspiration such that 60 million people (1% of the world’s population) leave the toxic communication of complaining behind and experience an internal shift toward being more positive, hopeful and optimistic.

Every day, people interact with dozens if not hundreds of others.  Our helping shift the attitudes of as little as 1% of humanity cannot help but have a ripple effect which will become a cascade of positivity around the world bringing about greater harmony, understanding, prosperity and peace.

Photo of the Day: Practice Makes Perfect

We practiced our severe weather evacuation this afternoon, and what better time to do so than during National Safety Month. We practice putting our hands over our heads to protect our head/neck, and to remain calm and still until the drill is complete. We are more than prepared in the event of an actual emergency!
