This year, we’ve chosen to participate in the “Teal Pumpkin Project”, an alternative, new tradition for our young friends who have food allergies. This campaign encourages people to raise awareness of food allergies by providing non-food treats for trick-or-treaters and painting a pumpkin teal – the color of food allergy awareness .Thank you ms. Carli for decorating our teal pumpkin project.
This year, we’ve chosen to participate in the “Teal Pumpkin Project”, an alternative, new tradition for our young friends who have food allergies restricting them from candy or sweets that are typically distributed this time of year. Many parents across the United States are participating as well, starting a trend that we hope catches on and lasts for quite some time!
Pick a pumpkin
Paint it teal
Display the pumpkin in front of your home on Halloween night, showing families that you will be distributing non-candy/non-food treats to trick-or-treaters.
There are lots of creative alternatives to handing out candy:
fun (non-scary) Halloween rub-on tattoos
plastic bracelets and rings
small activity books
Use your imagination, the possibilities are endless!
